(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Sunday, March 23 officers responding to a shots-fired call led to a standoff with the suspect in a red SUV in eastern Colorado Springs. According to CSPD, on Sunday at around 11 a.m., officers were called to the 300 bloc k of North Circle Drive between East Platte Avenue and East Bijou Street. Officers' investigation revealed a disturbance had taken place at the location and a suspect, later identified as Jairo Fernandez-Vasquez fired a handgun and had taken off in a red Dodge SUV. Platte Ave. and North Academy Boulevard. The SUV had two people inside, one of whom was safely removed from the vehicle. The other suspect was allegedly Fernandez-Vasquez who refused to exit the SUV. At around 2 p.m. police were able to take Fernandez-Vasquez into custody on weapons-related charges.
