BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The LSU gymnastics team is the No. 1 seed for the first time in program history, the SEC Network announced Monday.
LSU Athletics said the team won its sixth SEC Championship title Friday night after a record-breaking score of 198.200, the best score the team
has gotten for this competition in program history.
Haleigh Bryant finished as the top gymnast with an all-around score of 39.725. The fifth-year senior is now a five-time SEC Champion. Bryant and Aleah Finnegan claimed the beam title with scores of 9.925.

The LSU Tigers now head to NCAA Pennsylvania Regional in the postseason. The regional is scheduled for April 2-6 at Pennsylvania State. LSU will open the competition in the second session of the NCAA Second Round at 6 p.m. CT on April 3.
“It’s great for our program to get that No. 1 seed, but we haven’t arrived yet. Every draw at this time of the year is going to be tough and regionals is probably the hardest part of our postseason format since we changed to the two-day format,” head coach Jay Clark said. “This is the first round of the championship in our minds, so we just have to stick to our process. If we can stay in the mindset of enjoying the process, we’ll be in a good spot. The pursuit of our goals is the most important part.”
