Wife of slain California fire captain arrested, extradited from Mexico

Several weeks after Cal Fire captain Rebecca Marodi was killed in her home, her wife was arrested in Mexico on suspicion of murder and extradited to the U.S.
Mexican law enforcement officials told NBC San Diego that Yolanda Olejniczak Marodi, 53, was taken into custody Saturday at a hotel in Mexical
i. Baja California Citizen Security Secretariat officials took her to the border and handed her over to U.S. Marshals.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department said Olejniczak Marodi was given medical treatment before being booked on suspicion of murder. She is being held without bail at Las Colinas Detention Facility and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Rebecca Marodi, 49, was fatally stabbed in her Ramona home on Feb. 17 after allegedly arguing with her wife. Part of the attack was caught on a doorbell camera.
“Yolanda, please, I don’t want to die,” a voice can be heard saying in the video.
“You should have thought of that before,” another voice responds.
Department of Homeland Security video showed Olejniczak Marodi crossing the border into Mexico about an hour later.
The couple had been married for over two years.
The suspect was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter and spent 13 years in prison for fatally stabbing her previous spouse, James Joseph Olejniczak in San Bernardino County in 2000 according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. ...read more read less
