ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 15-year-old girl was hospitalized in life-threatening condition after she "fell from an elevated position" at the School of the Arts Monday morning, according to Rochester Police. The incident caused a hold-in-place procedure at the school throughout the afternoon.

Officers told News 8 the girl was experiencing a mental health crisis and fell before first responders made contact with her. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries considered life-threatening.
"Where was the SSOs? Where were the adults? How did the child even make it up there? Like, you can't even assure us parents the safety of our children," said a parent on the scene Monday afternoon. "It makes me not want to send my kid to school, makes me want to homeschool my baby."
The Rochester City School District released a statement, confirming the girl was a student:
"This afternoon, a student from School of the Arts experienced a crisis and emergency personnel responded to provide necessary support. The student’s parents were contacted, and an ambulance was called to the school to provide necessary support. The school is currently in a hold-in-place procedure. Families who wish to pick up their children may do so in the side parking lot on University Avenue. The safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority," RCSD officials announced Monday afternoon.
