MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two people of interest have been contacted after a man was shot in the head and later died Saturday evening, the Merced County Sheriff's Office announced. Deputies say around 7:30 p.m. they responded to the 7100 block of Bobbi Avenue in Winton after receiving a report of a man bleeding in front of a home. Upon arrival, first responders reported a man lying on the ground suffering from what they believe was a gunshot wound to the head. He was airlifted to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Investigators on scene believed a nearby residence had a person of interest inside, and reported after the SWAT team responded, entry was made but no one of interest was inside. Detectives reported on Sunday they have since located two people of interest and are being questioned. The identity of the victim has not been released.
