SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego FC lost its first game of the season thus far on Sunday when the club fell 2-1 to Austin FC at Q2 Stadium in Texas.
Austin (3-2-0) scored two early goals to get the club on the board —
Brandon Vázquez netting the first in the 10th minute, followed by Jon Gallagher in the 19th minute.
San Diego (2-1-2) halved its deficit in the 27th minute when Luca de la Torre used an assist from Onni Valakari to score his first career goal 13 minutes after he was tagged with a yellow card in his fifth appearance — all starts. It was the second assist for Valakari in his first start and fifth appearance.

Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver saved three shots made by San Diego.
San Diego goalkeeper CJ dos Santos had three saves for San Diego. He allowed two goals with two clean sheets in the first four starts for the newcomers. He allowed five goals in two starts a season apart for Inter Miami previously.
San Diego now returns to America's Finest City to play Los Angeles FC on Saturday, the club's third home game at Snapdragon Stadium. At home so far, the club has won one game and earned a draw.
