(KRON) -- The fate of former UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez is in the hands of a South Bay judge. Velasquez is awaiting sentencing for attempted murder in connection to a 2022 shooting. The former champ could be looking at decades in prison. According to prosecutors, he went on a shooting spr ee targeting the man accused of molesting his child. Velasquez, prosecutors say, opened fire on Harry Goularte’s vehicle with Goularte and two others inside. Velasquez, 42, missed his intended target, but he shot Goularte’s father-in-law, Paul Binder, instead. Mother in fatal Napa DUI crash booked into jail, makes first court appearance The daycare attended by Velaquez’s child at the time was owned by Goularte’s mother.
