Mar 24, 2025
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A restaurant in West Ridge Mall's food court that opened last year is now looking for a new place to call home in the Topeka area.
27 News spoke with Eric Alcantara, owner of Mr. Teriyaki, on Monday, March 24 following a social media announcement that his business would be leaving
the mall in the coming days. Alcantara said his restaurant's final day in the mall's food court will be Wednesday, April 9. Mr. Teriyaki moved into the mall in September 2024.
"Looking for new leases in town," Alcantara said. "Moving to a food truck at the moment."
Alcantara said he is hoping to find a spot in the downtown area down the road to set up shop in. He hopes to offer customers longer hours and more menu options to choose from following this transition.
"We had huge support from people," Alcantara said. "But I hope that everybody just follows us where we go and keeps supporting us."
West Ridge Mall is currently undergoing major renovation work this year as the new owners of the building, Advisors Excel, reimagine the shopping center. New businesses are currently being considered for the revamped mall space in the years to come.
"We remain committed to providing a positive experience for our guests and tenants as we continue to evolve the offerings at West Ridge Mall," said Casey Richardson, West Ridge Mall manager.
Guests can find other places to eat inside the mall including Rosi's Food and Boxer Q BBQ. You can learn more about what the mall has to offer by clicking here.
