Suspect arrested, victim identified in deadly Henrico hitandrun

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A suspect was arrested and the victim was identified in the deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred on Saturday morning in Henrico County on Airport Drive.
Shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersecti
on of Airport Drive and Audubon Drive in Henrico.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a Toyota Yaris and a Cadillac CTS with major damage.
According to police, the man who was driving the Toyota -- identified as 29-year-old Luis Fernando Cac Caal, of Sandston -- was pronounced dead on the scene.
The passenger of the Toyota, a woman, was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, where officials said she remains in critical condition as of Monday, March 24.
The investigation determined that the Cadillac CTS was involved in a police chase that started on Interstate 64 west in New Kent County. The chase eventually ended in Henrico County where the crash involving the Toyota took place.
Police said the occupants of the Cadillac fled the scene on foot after the crash.
Hours after the crash, 18-year-old Tony Lamont Roberts, of Hopewell, was identified as a person of interest. He was arrested by the Hopewell Police Department on March 22.
According to police, Roberts faces the following charges:
Felony hit-and-run
Misdemeanor eluding
Obstruction of justice
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Possession of a firearm while under a protective order
Possession of an extended magazine
