Original Story
INDIANAPOLIS -- Two people are in critical condition after a reported shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.
At around 8:32 a.m. on Monday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 600 block of Dayton Ave.
When officers arrived, they reportedly located two people with gunshot wounds. The two people were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.
In an update from IMPD Public Information Office Tommy Thompson, officials identified the people who were shot as two adult men. The two men are believed to have been known to each other and are believed to have shot one another.
Thompson said that this was a reported isolated incident that occurred outside in the entryway of a home on Dayton Ave. IMPD detectives are investigating the incident and officials expect for them to remain on scene for the next hour and a half.
Thompson said on scene that conflict resolution and firearms do not go together, stating that this was a "senseless act" that will impact the area.
“This community is going to be thinking about this," Thompson said. "....We need to do better.”
