RALEIGH, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) -- UConn head coach Dan Hurley was visibly and audibly frustrated with the officiating after the Huskies' 77-75 loss to #1 Florida in the Round of 32 on Sunday.
As coaches and players walked off the floor, CSL reporter Joey Ellis captured the viral commen
ts Hurley made to Baylor as they were ready to take the floor against top-seeded Duke.
“I hope they don’t f$&@ you like they F’ed us, Baylor. I really hope they don’t.” Danny Hurley to Baylor walking off the floor after a slug fest loss to top-seed Florida. Shortly after the video was posted, Ellis was confronted by UConn Director of Communications Bobby Mullen who asked for the video to be removed, a video that now has more than 1 million views on X.
He then reportedly threatened Ellis saying he would "ruin his life" if he didn't take down the video, a comment that was heard by other reporters and staff nearby.
"The lasting image of coach Hurley leaving the court should have been his talking off the court arm-in-arm with his seniors, overwhelmed emotion," Mullen said in a statement requested by CSL management. "Instead, a reporter was in an area he should not have been, recorded on his cell phone a private comment made to members of another coaching staff."

In the offseason, Hurley turned down an offer to be the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers to take an extension with the Huskies.
In 2023 and 2024, Hurley led the Huskies to back-to-back National Championships- a feat that's only been accomplished by seven other programs and the first since Florida in 2006-07.
“This was just a historic run that these guys have been on and the guys that have worn the uniform the past couple years,” Hurley said in a postgame press conference. “If it’s going to come to an end for us, I wouldn’t have wanted it to be in a game where we lost to a lower seed. ...read more read less
