High Point trying microtransit to extend workforce transportation options

High Point is trying a low-cost version of ride sharing to boost ridership of its bus system and, among other goals, help remove lack of reliable transportation as a barrier to getting and holding jobs.
HPTSGo! is the name of a pilot-scale service allowing riders to schedule point-to-point rides
within a designated zone in the city to areas along North Main Street beyond existing fixed-route bus service.
It starts March 31 and is planned as a 12-month pilot. The fare is $2.50 for each one-way trip.
