Once on the scene, officials say smoke could be seen coming out of the upper floor, multiple soffit vents, and the roof of the two-story home.
All residents of the home, including the family dog, were able to safely evacuate allowing firefighters to begin an aggressive attack on the fire.
As crews put out the fire in the upstairs office place, the known origin of the fire, it spread through a wall and ceiling into the second-story attic space. Access to the attic was said to be challenging for those working to put out the fire due to the age and construction of the home.
Officials say they were on the scene for over three hours working to put the fire fully out. They add that an effort was made to place fire tarps on belongings in the home to salvage as much of the family's personal possessions as possible.
