NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Prosperity man has been arrested and charged in connection with kidnapping, said Newberry Co. deputies. According to Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Duan Barnes was charged with assault and battery 1st degree, and kidnapping. Barnes is accuse d of entering Martin’s Landing (formerly Holland’s Landing) on Marina Way with a gun in the bar area. Deputies said an investigation revealed that he was a former employee that had been terminated. Additionally,  Barnes is accused of going to the business to retrieve payment for when he worked there. Newberry County deputies determined that the pistol was a very real looking BB gun along with a police type holster. Barnes was taken to the Newberry County Detention Center.
