BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man was sentenced Monday morning to four to 12 years in prison after he recklessly killed two people and injured two others when he crashed into a Lyft in March of last year, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.
At 12:15 a.m. on March 21, Devin F
ord, 24, was driving northbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed when he hit another vehicle at the intersection of Humboldt Parkway, officials said. He did not have the vehicle's headlights on at the time of the crash.
The district attorney's office said Ford recklessly engaged in conduct resulting in the death of the driver, 27-year-old Nasir Musazada, and rear driver-side passenger, 26-year-old Morgan Ehrenbeit of Ohio, in the other vehicle. Both Musazada and Ehrenbeit were pronounced dead at the hospital.
A 31-year-old man from Ohio, who was the other rear seat passenger, sustained serious physical injuries and remains in a long-term rehabilitation facility, officials said. Another 31-year-old male of Ohio sustained injuries to his spine and ribs and was released from the hospital after receiving treatment.
Ford was the only occupant of the vehicle and was taken into custody when he tried to climb out of the vehicle through the front passenger door.
Ford pleaded guilty in January of this year to two counts of second-degree manslaughter, one count of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree assault. Officials said after three counts were dismissed by the judge, he pleaded guilty to the highest remaining counts of the indictment.
