Day 5 testimony focuses on Nichole Rice interactions with friends, family

GRAND FORKS, ND (KXNET) — The prosecution’s final witness in its case against Nichole Rice, accused of killing Anita Hill in a Minot apartment in 2007, is now on the stand. Case Agent Detective Carmen Ashman is testifying about the investigation into the apartment crime scene, evidence they disc
overed and the suspects they considered and investigated. The court has recessed until 1:00 p.m., today, to pick up with Ashman's continuing testimony.
Four other witnesses for the state took the standard earlier today:
Robin Myka Thompson
Robyn Thompson (Trial livestream)
Robyn was friends with both Anita Knutson and Nichole Rice.
She went to Club 101 with Anita.
She was at a get together at a friend's house after Anita had died.
Nichole told Robyn that she heard "Money Mike" (Michael Vann) confess to Anita's murder at Anita's funeral.
Years later Robyn found a stuffed toy that belonged to Anita in Nichole's closet.
Robyn's statement to police said she and Anita went to Club 101 looking for men.
Robyn recalled an incident where a man wouldn't let Anita go at the club and they had to get a bouncer to intervene. This took place weeks before Anita’s death.
Connie Sue Ulland

Connie was the sister of Marty Annell, the maintenance man at the apartment where Anita Knutson was killed.
Connie stated Marty's mom, the last of Marty's relatives, moved out of Minot.
She said Laura Knapp, the apartment land lady and Marty's 10-year-long girlfriend, were having relationship problems.
Connie stated he was losing job, his home, and his relationship.
Marty died by suicide on New Year's Day 2009.
Connie stated her family has a history of alcoholism and suicide.
Stated Marty's niece died by suicide in 2007 and Marty's other sister died by suicide after Marty died in 2011.
Said she was interviewed by "Cold Justice" when it came to town.
She said she really wasn't aware of the Anita Knutson case or the murder.
Stated he had a drug dealing arrest when was young.
Brenda Glinz

Brenda is Nichole Rice's aunt.
Testified she and Nichole were very close for many years.
Said Nichole moved to New Mexico four to six week's after Anita's death.
Brenda visited New Mexico and met up with Nichole. Brenda helped move Nichole back to North Dakota.
Testified on the car ride home, Nichole told her that someone cut the screen at the apartment, hid in the closet, and waited for Anita.
Stated Nichole told her that Anita was raped and stabbed.
Testified Nichole told her that Anita looked so peaceful after she died, covered up in her bathrobe.
Testified Nichole told her there was a bowl in the bathroom sink where Anita's "alleged murderer" washed off the knife.
Testified Nichole told her she was upset about her missing iPod.
Said she felt Nichole didn't react normally to Anita's death.
Testified Nichole referred to Anita as a f****** c*** and a f****** b****, and had said Anita deserved to die.
Said she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which could result in some memory loss
Brenda said she believes this case has ruined the Knuston family, ruined the Thomas family, and the community, and now is the time that the truth come out.
Said her family has been torn apart over this and her family will never be whole again because of this.
Mark Glinz

Mark is Brenda's husband and Nichole's uncle.
Confirmed Brenda and Nichole rode back to North Dakota together alone from New Mexico
Testified the family got together shortly after returning to North Dakota for a birthday party for Nichole's grandfather.
At the birthday party, Mark testified Nichole stated, "she didn't like Anita anyway."
Testified Nichole was upset her iPod was missing from the apartment she shared with Anita Knutson and it was the only thing she was concerned about.
Testified Nichole had stated the screen was cut on Anita's window and that there was a bowl in the sink.
Mark testified he saw Nichole and Nichole's mom, Gay, in Velva on June 3 (the day before Anita was found dead) to buy supplies and drinks from a gas station.
Mark testified he saw Nichole and her mom drive away from Minot, then they turned around and went towards Minot, then they came back around away from Minot.
