Severe thunderstorms cause power outages for thousands in Baton Rouge area

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — As severe thunderstorms moved across Louisiana Monday morning, thousands were left without power.
A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect until 11 a.m. Storms have knocked out power for thousands of Entergy and Demco customers in the Baton Rouge area.
According to the Entergy Louisiana outage map, over 3,200 customers were without power in Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes.
Here is the breakdown of power outages in the area as of 1:35 p.m. per Entergy.
Ascension: 155
East Baton Rouge: 1,833
East Feliciana: 59
Iberville: 111
Livingston: 111
Pointe Coupee: 931
St. Helena: 42
West Baton Rouge: 4
West Feliciana: 2
The DEMCO outage map showed 3,774 customers without power in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena and West Feliciana parishes.
