A couple in their 60s were fatally attacked in a Gage Park neighborhood home and the suspect allegedly stabbed a woman at a nearby bar restroom minutes later after trying to stab the bouncer and shoot a patron Sunday night, police and sources say.Officers responded to calls of a person shot just bef ore 10 p.m. at an apartment in the 5300 block of South Kedzie Avenue, Chicago police said. The back door of the apartment was open and the bodies of Richard M. Romo, 63, and Rita Chavez, 64, were found, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. Romo suffered a gunshot wound to the head while Chavez, of the same block, suffered multiple injuries, police said. Both were dead at the scene. According to a law enforcement source, about five minutes later, an allegedly intoxicated 57-year-old man suspected of killing Romo and Chavez walked across the street to the "Just One More" sports bar, 5332 S. Kedzie Ave., and allegedly tried to stab a 37-year-old bouncer.After getting inside, he allegedly tried to shoot a bar patron, but his gun didn't discharge. He then went into the woman's restroom where he allegedly stabbed a woman, leaving her with multiple cuts, the source said.She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was in good condition, officials said. As police converged on the 57-year-old suspect, who held a knife in one hand and the gun in the other as he walked outside the bar, police officers tased him and he was placed into custody and taken to a hospital, the source said.
