Since taking office a little over two months ago, President Donald Trump has taken many steps to freeze federal funding for
projects across the country, and one farm in Granby is feeling the impact.
On January 20th, President Trump paused funding related to the Inflation Reduction Act and the current projects under the act, including one at that farm in Granby.
Red Fire Farm received an email from the USDA stating "on January 20, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order that placed a freeze on spending. USDA leaders have been directed to assess whether grants, loans, contracts, and other disbursements align with the new administration's policies"
Red Fire Farm also wrote in the lawsuit they were awarded a grant that would pay for a portion of the cost of either solar energy or an energy efficiency program, but now with the freeze and delay of funding, they are put at risk. Red Fire Farm said they would not have taken on the project without the grant.
The eight plaintiffs including Red Fire Farm are asking for the release of any frozen funding and relief.
