"This is going to be a game changer for the region," Wang said. "I'm going to be seeing friends more often here because of this train."
There will be 32 daily trips on the South Coast Rail to and from Boston's South Station. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) said trains will run every 70 minutes on weekdays. On the weekends, there will be 26 total trips every two hours.
The New Bedford/Fall River line makes stops at the following stations:
Middleboro, located at 52 West Grove Street
East Taunton, located at 1141 County Street
Freetown, located at 153 South Main Street
Fall River Depot, located at 825 Davol Street
Church Street, located at 387 Church Street
New Bedford, located at 536 Acushnet Avenue
Parking at the six new stations will be free from March 24 until April 30. Fares on the South Coast Rail are also free from March 24 to March 31, every weekend from April 5 to April 27 and on Patriots' Day.
All six new stations are in Zone 8 of the fare zones for the commuter rail. Full fares to and from South Station will be $12.25 each way. There are also reduced fair options.
