Donald Trump administration defends Alien Enemies Act deportations

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The Trump administration is defending the president's decision to deport immigrants under the Alien Enemies Act. The President has even made comments about the judge challenging this. Meanwhile, Democrats say the president’s actions are lawless.

Despite a judge blocking this move to deport Venezuelan migrants, border czar Tom Homan says he doesn't care what the judge says.
"We're going to continue to arrest public safety threats, and national security threats will continue to be deported from the United States,” said Homan.
The administration used the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport these migrants on the basis they were committing violent crimes as members of a Venezuelan gang.
"Every single one, according to the information given to me from the field, are members of the TDA and TDA has been determined to be terrorist organizations,” said Homan.
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stood by the president's decision.
"President Trump has determined that best. This group is acting as a terrorist organization,” said Waltz.
Over the weekend President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to call out the judge who ordered the flights be turned around.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer says the president is lawless.
"He thinks he should do whatever he wants regardless of the law, and he thinks judges should just listen to him. Now, we have to fight that back in every single way,” said Schumer.
U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg said he'll continue to examine whether the administration actually violated his order. ...read more read less
