INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Several rain chances on the way this week.
Mainly sunny conditions will start off the day. A pretty decent pressure gradient between low pressure to the north and high pressure to our south and west will keep us breezy through the day.
Look for wind gusts to reach up to 40 mph this afternoon.
Meanwhile, high temperatures will top out in the mid-50s, which is near normal for this time of year.
Tonight, we will begin the first of several upper-level waves that will roll through the states, coming from the north and west. For the most part, I think we will stay mainly cloudy overnight, but a sprinkle or two can’t be ruled out. Lows will dip down into the upper 30s, which is close to the seasonal average.
Look for cloudy skies with a few brief shower chances during the day on Tuesday. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 50s.
Showers will likely be possible through Tuesday night and into very early Wednesday morning as well.
Our upper-level disturbances for the first half of the week will start to shift east by Wednesday afternoon, which should quiet down the weather pattern. Look for highs to top out in the mid-50s on Wednesday.
An isolated shower or two can’t be ruled out for Thursday with milder temperatures. Highs will top out around 60°.
Very warm weather will settle in for Friday and into the weekend. A couple of waves will be moving through here with much more moisture, giving us widespread showers and even thunderstorms for Friday, Saturday, and possibly into Sunday as well. It’s still a little too early to tell if we have a good indication of severe weather potential, but the possibilities do exist that we could have a few stronger storms for all three of those days, and it’s something that is worth watching.
Meanwhile, rainfall amounts could exceed an inch and a half to 2 inches across the central region over the next seven days, which could lead to some minor flooding concerns over this next week. It does appear that we will turn sharply colder as we head into the beginning of the month of April in the wake of our weekend storm system, but that should be short-lived as temperatures will go back above average.
