IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WROC) – The Helmer Nature Center hosted a pancake breakfast in recognition of New York State Maple Sugar Weekend in Rochester on Sunday. The breakfast included all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee, sweetened with maple syrup made at Helmer on Pinegrove Avenue . According to Karen Mazzola, Director of the Helmer Nature Center, the center has held this event for decades. Year after year, it brings the community together to fundraise and learn. "This year we've had an abundance of folks come in," Mazzola said. "Maple sugaring is a great time for families to get together. We have families walking the trail and just enjoying being outside." 2025 Maple Weekend: Local Producers Attendees also enjoyed maple sugaring tours that provided insight into the sugaring process.
