Roadside memorial set up for Kansas teen killed by distracted driver

LACROSSE, Kan. (KSNW) - A community in Lacrosse is coming together to honor a teen killed by a distracted driver.

A roadside memorial was set up for 19-year-old Kenzee Cupp, who died on March 1, 2021.

lare March Distracted Driving Awareness Month in the city. She hopes to spread the message: "Bring Back the Wave".
"That's Kenzie, and we figured when we moved here 21 years ago, everybody waved at you their heads were up now, you see the tops of their heads, so nobody's waving cause they're on their phone, so we wanted to come up with a positive message to keep people off their phone while driving," said Denee.
The Cupp family also started "Kenzee Cares," a meal program, in 2023, as Kenzee was an aspiring chef. ...read more read less
