College Wrap: Princeton U. baseball sweeps Ivy series from Dartmouth

PRINCETON — Ivy League play came at just the right time for Scott Bradley the Princeton University baseball team.
Liam Kinneen allowed four hits and struck out four over seven scoreless innings and the Tigers completed a three-game sweep of Dartmouth with an 8-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.

ton (6-15, 3-0) first won the suspended game of Saturday’s doubleheader, 7-6, on Jake Koonin’s two-run single in the 14th inning. The Tigers had dropped five in a row before beginning Ivy play against the Big Green (0-13, 0-3).
Merrimack 7, Rider 3
LAWRENCEVILLE — The Warriors (6-16-1, 5-4) avoided the sweep by scoring five runs in the sixth inning and then keeping the Broncs (12-7, 6-3) at bay in their remaining four at-bats. Clayton Poliey pitched well for five innings before running into trouble in a sixth frame that started with a sun-aided double to center field.

Princeton 9, Harvard 8
PRINCETON — Julia Dumas and Jessica Phelps both homered and the Tigers (8-12, 3-0) swept a three-game set from the Crimson (11-7, 0-3). West Windsor South product Priyanka Kaul went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Harvard.
Rider 4, Sacred Heart 0
LAWRENCEVILLE — Kathryn Schmierer threw a six-hit shutout, Shea Johnson had a pair of hits and the Broncs (8-12, 2-1) took the rubber game of the series from the Pioneers (10-12, 1-2).
