BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) -- A 21-year-old man has died following an overnight single-vehicle crash in Brunswick County on Sunday, police said. At approximately 4:05 a.m., Virginia State Police responded to 1176 Old Bridge Road for a reported single-vehicle crash with life-threatening injuries . Upon arrival, troopers located a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis in the middle of the roadway with extensive damage and the deceased driver. Courtesy: Virginia State Police Courtesy: Virginia State Police A preliminary investigation has determined that the driver, later identified as Jukwanta Demond Nicholson, was traveling in the westbound lanes of Old Stage Road when he ran off the roadway and struck several large trees on the passenger side door area. Nicholson was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and succumbed to his injuries upon impact. Speed and alcohol were additional factors in the crash. ...read more read less
