Richmond Animal Care and Control to host pet owner educational training
Mar 23, 2025
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In an effort to improve knowledge surrounding pet ownership, Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) will be hosting a pet owner educational training at the end of March.
The training will be held on March 31 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Classroom C of the Beulah Recreational C
enter located at 6901 Hopkins Road in Chesterfield.
In a Facebook post made by RACC, they state that a big motivator for starting this class was recent low level court cases where the judges inquired about a "pet education class" they could potentially use in their rulings.
The animal shelter rose to the challenge, creating a class that they hope could be approved in the future for judges to use across the commonwealth -- but they need the public's help to test its efficacy.
Participants can expect a detailed discussion about Virginia state code section 3.2-6503 and what adequate pet care looks like -- including food, water, shelter and more.
The space is currently limited to 50 attendees. Those interested in joining can RSVP to Rob Leinberger at robert.leinberger@rva.gov. ...read more read less
