Shooting kills person on near eastside INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead, and a suspect arrested, after a fatal shooting on the near eastside of Indianapolis around 4:46 a.m. Sunday morning. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported that a man was shot in the 300 block of North Arsenal Avenue, near East New York Street. Police arrived to find the man on the front porch of the home dead from a gunshot wound. One person was detained on the scene. Later, after consulting the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, IMPD arrested the person for their involvement in the shooting. The area of Arsenal Avenue and New York Street “will be closed with a heavy police presence for some time,” IMPD said.
