HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The New Kent County Sheriff's Office and the Henrico County Police Department are searching for multiple suspects that fled the scene of a deadly crash outside Richmond International Airport (RIC) on Saturday. According to an update from the sheriff's office, a vehicle was traveling westbound on Interstate 64 in New Kent County at 2:08 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 when it was caught going over 110 mph by a deputy. As the deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop, officials said the vehicle did not pull over and continued driving westbound into Henrico County. The suspect vehicle used Airport Road to exit I-64, where they disregarded several traffic signals and eventually hit another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that was hit died at the scene, according to officials, and their passenger was seriously injured. After the crash, the individuals inside the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot heading towards Sandston. The investigation is active and ongoing, led by the Henrico Police Department Crash Team -- although they are working alongside the New Kent County Sheriff's Office and the Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to gather and process evidence that will help catch the individuals that are responsible.
