VALDESE, N.C. — A fire has burned over 180 acres in Burke County. Officials are still investigating what sparked the blaze, but have confirmed that one structure has been destroyed along with over 100 vehicles from a nearby salvage yard. 25 fire departments from five counties are involved with f ighting the blaze, which is 70% contained as of 9 PM Saturday. Multiple witnesses and neighbors have told WCCB Charlotte that the fire started due to a house explosion along Iron Lane in the Triple community a few miles north of downtown Valdese. Authorities have blocked off the neighborhood from vehicle traffic and evacuated multiple nearby residents as they continue to fight the fire. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
