Trae Young had 25 points and 10 assists as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Golden State Warriors 124-115 Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at State Farm Arena. With the victory, the Hawks have won their second straight game and their sixth game out of their last seven. Onyeka Okongwu had 22 poi
nts and 12 rebounds, his fourth-straight double-double. The players love him because he’s got great instincts on the court. He’s also been a great facilitator. “I think Onyeka has given us a different look when he’s coming out and making some shots,” said Hawks head coach Quin Snyder. “Guys trust him even more. He’s been really effective rolling [to the basket]. And in those situations where you know he’s on the perimeter or whether he’s in the corner. Or he’s got the ball on the top of the floor and he’s passing or spacing, he’s learning to do more and more. I think getting more and more comfortable.”Also, Georges Niang scored 23 points off the bench on 8-of-11 shooting and 6-of-9 from three-point range. Since he joined the Hawks, Niang has been complimentary of how the guys have been able to jell after the trade.“The trust that Quin has built with this group and the trust that we’ve built within each other allows for everybody to fit into a role on this team,” said Niang. Maintaining Good HabitsAt one point in the first half, the Hawks held a 22-point lead. However, the Warriors were able to cut into the lead during the fourth quarter, even getting it down to seven points late on. One of the major keys the Hawks are emphasizing during the stretch run is maintaining good habits. One of those habits are maintaining leads late in games.“That’s something I was talking about in the huddle. Making sure every possession is important,” said Young. “When we get down in this part of the season, every possession is important. And I had some bad mistakes. I threw a lob pass over in the back court and they got the ball. So the first three quarters is how we want to play in the fourth is, is how we don’t. So we just we got to be better. And, I’m just glad we get to to learn off a win.”Jimmy Butler III leads his team out of a time out during the second half of an NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
