While Saturday started with a good amount of cloud cover, those clouds left as high pressure settled in. It was a breezy but seasonably cool Saturday with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. We'll increase temperatures a smidge for Sunday, but the umbrellas will be needed as rain moves in for most
of the day.

Seventh tornado confirmed from March 19
Some additional news regarding this past Wednesday's storms came out Saturday. After further review following damage surveys, the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office determined that Wednesday's damage at the Logansport/Cass County Airport came from a weak EF-0 tornado rather than straight-line winds. This means that three tornadoes occurred in central Indiana that day and seven tornadoes in total throughout the state occurred.
As a perspective, two tornadoes on average occur in March for Indiana.
Soggy and blustery Sunday ahead
High pressure has settled in for now. It will be pushing east along with a cold front that will bring the rain to central Indiana. It will be rainy all day with some potential snowflake mixing in the morning and thunder in the afternoon.
Some decent rainfall will come from this with totals approaching an inch in spots south of I-70. That's the zone where the heavier downpours are more likely. Severe weather is not expected. However, some isolated gusty winds around 30-35 MPH are possible. Rain will gradually exit Sunday evening with lows in the 30s. All in all, Sunday looks to be a good day to sit inside and relax or even go to the movies!
Seasonal and breezy next week; scattered rain chances too
The last week of March opens dry and breezy Monday with highs in the mid-50s. Rain returns Tuesday with a few scattered showers possible throughout the day. Through the middle of the week, expect high temperatures at or below normal each day in the mid-to-low 50s. This will be the story through Wednesday before an anticipated warm-up arrives.
Higher rain chances return with southwest flow also coming back. Highs approach 60° Thursday with rain moving in late. Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances exist for Friday and Saturday with a system coming from the Great Plains. This will usher in above-normal temperatures again for Central Indiana. Highs in the lower 70s are possible Friday and next Saturday to end March.
Rain chances return on Tuesday when an impulse embedded within a
broad trough moves in. Marginal overall moisture and weak moisture
should result in light QPF amounts. Guidance then shows surface high
pressure building in Wednesday, but low POPs (20%) remain in the
forecast as a weak mid-level disturbance tracks through the area.
Temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal during the first
half of the extended period with upper troughing aloft.
Thursday onward...
Rain chances begin to increase once again towards late week as
moisture streams northward ahead of a developing system across the
Plains. Uncertainty remains regarding exact details on the late
week system due to a large spread in model solutions. Guidance
also shows a weak southern stream low potentially developing near
the Southern Plains at the same time which could move towards the
region. Temperatures will warm up late next week thanks to
southerly flow returning. Expect highs in the 60s by Thursday and
70s for most on Friday. ...read more read less
