Green Bay women's basketball season ends in NCAA Tournament

(WFRV) - The Green Bay women's basketball season comes to a close after an 81-67 loss to Alabama in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Phoenix entered the NCAA Tournament riding a 22-game win streak that helped power Green Bay to the program's 25th Horizon League regular season champion
ship along with its 18th conference tournament title.

In Green Bay's 20th NCAA Tournament appearance, the #12 Phoenix kept it close with the #5 Crimson Tide until late in the fourth quarter when Alabama sealed the deal. Four players for the Phoenix scored in double digits that included Maddy Schreiber (14), Cassie Schiltz (13), Natalie McNeal (12), and Callie Genke (10).
In the first year under head coach Kayla Karius, Green Bay finished the season with a 29-6 (19-1) record. The Phoenix are set to lose seven seniors heading into the offseason that includes McNeal, Schreiber, Schiltz, Genke, Bailey Butler, Jasmine Kondrakiewicz, and Miah Meyer. ...read more read less
