Baton Rouge weekend forecast: Warm, sunny Saturday gives way to Sunday showers
Mar 22, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Baton Rouge is enjoying a beautiful start to the weekend with warm temperatures and clear skies, but changes are on the way.
Clouds will build in tonight ahead of scattered showers on Sunday, followed by a stronger cold front Monday morning that will bring
heavier rain. While most of the area is no longer under a severe weather threat, some northern parishes remain at risk. Here’s what to expect for the rest of the weekend and beyond.
Saturday
Baton Rouge hit a high of 78 degrees. We've had clear, blue skies today letting the sun heat us a bit from yesterday. The high pressure on top of us has moved off towards our east bringing us southerly winds. These southerly winds are increasing our dew points and letting more clouds build in by this evening.
Saturday night
Clouds will become more widespread as we head into the overnight hours. This cloud coverage will trap some of the heat from the day making our overnight lows a bit warmer than what we have been seeing.
Sunday and Monday
Sunday morning will begin with a few isolated showers across the region. These storms will become more scattered as we move into the evening. Tomorrow would be a great day to gather with family or friends for a crawfish boil under the patio. A cold front will visit us and bring us some heavier rain Monday morning.
You will want your rain jacket and umbrella on the way to work or school. Most of the Baton Rouge area is no longer under a severe weather threat. A marginal risk is in place for Wilkinson County and the northern tips of Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana parishes.
A slight risk for severe weather is in place for north and central Louisiana, south Arkansas, east Texas and north Mississippi.
Beyond the weekend
The cold front will stall above us leading to showers possibly Monday evening. This will also increase our cloud coverage through the middle of the week. Tuesday morning lows will be in the upper 50s but will quickly warm back up to the lower 80s by school pick-up time. Wednesday will also be warm with highs near 80 degrees. And we’ll have sunshine and some clouds that day.
