Community Chorus of Redlands, University of Redlands choirs will perform Fauré Requiem

The Community Chorus of Redlands will collaborate with choirs from the University of Redlands to perform Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem 7:30 p.m. March 28 in Memorial Chapel on the University of Redlands campus, 1200 E. Colton Ave.
In addition to the Fauré Requiem, the program will feature sets perform
ed by University Choir, directed by Ömer Aziz Kayhan, and the Community Chorus of Redlands, directed by Jamison Stevens.
Philip Hoch will accompany the performance at the organ, and professional soloists will be Alexandra Rose Hotz, soprano, and Connor Licharz, baritone, according to a news release.
A second performance of the Fauré Requiem by the University Choir alone will take place 3:30 p.m. March 29 at First Presbyterian Church of Redlands, 100 Cajon St.
Admission to both performances is free.
Jamison Stevens became artistic director of the Community Chorus of Redlands in 2024, assuming the role after Jeffrey H. Rickard’s retirement. Irmengard Jennings continues with the Community Chorus as associate director and collaborative pianist.
Ömer Aziz Kayhan is a visiting lecturer at the University of Redlands Conservatory of Music. Hoch, also at University of Redlands, serves as artist teacher of organ and visiting assistant professor of music.
Alexandra Rose Hotz is an award-winning soprano and a lecturer at Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music. Connor Licharz is a German-American bass and a singer with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and other Los Angeles-area choral ensembles.
This program continues the annual Healing Power of Music series first presented by the Community Chorus of Redlands in February 2016 in response to the Dec. 2, 2015, terrorist attack in San Bernardino. The series is intended to bring healing and solace to the community through choral music, according to the news release.
