Art in Bloom at Newfields INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Roberta Staggs, owner and lead designer of Hiawatha Floral Design Company, will have her immersive displays debuted at Newfields for their Art in Bloom event. Staggs is renowned for her breathtaking floral creations that transform any space i nto a work of art. Each arrangement she creates is a blend of creativity, color, and texture that tells its own story. “Floristry is a medium of artwork. So I love designing with colors and textures and shapes. And it’s just… part of a creative process,” she said. Hiawatha Floral Design Company offers everything from custom wedding bouquets to corporate installations. Her journey into floral design began in a deeply personal way. “My grandmother had Parkinson’s, and towards the end of her battle with the disease, she was in an assisted living facility. Every week, I would bring her flowers—usually sunflowers. It would cheer her up and lift her spirits, and it made me feel good too. That’s when I realized flowers are therapeutic, a part of healing,” Roberta said. She will be showcasing her floral designs in an immersive display that brings her artistic vision to life. As she prepares for her debut at Newfields, Roberta said, “I never thought I would be presenting at such a prestigious place. I never imagined being part of an exhibition. So, it’s an incredible feeling to be recognized this way.” Roberta’s design process focuses on understanding the emotional essence of an event or space. Every bloom, petal, and stem is thoughtfully selected to reflect the mood and intention behind the occasion. “Floral design is about creating an experience—something that leaves a lasting impression,” she said.
