Debbie (Bogel) and Weldon “Eugene” Lawson of Mentor celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 21, 2025. They were married March 21, 1975, in Erie, Pa. Eugene and Debbie Lawson in 1975 (Submitted) Mr. Lawson was a plant manager at MT Heat Treating in Mentor. He worked for 41 years before re tiring in May 2018. His wife was a skin care manager and consultant at Jafra Cosmetics International in Westlake Village, Calif., for 44 years and is still self-employed there. She was medical office manager for Dr. Janet Blanchard 18 years, still working minimal hours there. Their family includes their children, daughter Alison (Anthony) Lavdis of Concord, son Eugene (Jolinda) Lawson of Concord, son Jeremy (Jackie) Lawson of Washington, D.C., and daughter Mariah (Michael) Branem of Chardon; and grandchildren Alexis Lavdis, Alyssa Lavdis, Stella Lawson, Declan Lawson, Jack Lawson and the late Jacob Lawson. The couple met in the fifth grade in the Collinwood area, then they were neighbors in high school, living one door apart. Through all the ups and downs in life, God has blessed them tremendously, they say, giving them four amazing children and many four-legged children. They have three dogs — Luke, Shiloh and Machiato.
