18-year-old arrested for fatal shooting in Vigo County TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) — An 18-year-old man was arrested for a shooting in northern Vigo County that killed one person and injured another, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release. At 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Vigo County deputies responded to northern Vigo County on a report of an incident involving gunshot wounds. Deputies arrived to the scene, where they found a male and female, both appearing to have gunshot wounds. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was taken to an Indianapolis-area hospital. The names of the victims haven not been released. Deputies on the scene immediately began investigating the scene. Detectives were also called to the scene for further investigation. Investigators discovered that a suspected shooter fled the scene prior to deputies arrival. Deputies were able to locate a possible residence nearby where the suspect was believed to be. The Terre Haute Police Department Special Response Team was also called to the scene for assistance. Two male individuals exited the residence without further incident after a brief standoff. Joshua Torpy, 18, of Terre Haute, was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder and attempted murder. ...read more read less
