DENVER (KDVR) — Fans of the Colorado State University-Fort Collins Men’s Basketball team are celebrating after the Rams upset Memphis to move on to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Schutz says she is a lifelong Rams fan along with most of her friends and family. She brought her daughter, Louisa, to McGreggor Square to watch the end of the game on their big screen.
“It was really cool because it’s just so loud and big,” Louisa Schutz said.
Fellow CSU fans filled in the outdoor tables to watch the game together.
“So, I’m a Buffs fan but since they are not so good, Rammies are now number one in my book right now,” Matt West said.
Following CSU’s victory, West said he is officially on the bandwagon.
“I’m converted. Rams fan for life now,” he said.
The DNVR Bar in Denver hosted one of the CSU alumni watch parties for the Friday afternoon game. Fans dressed in green and gold packed the establishment, which is owned by a CSU alum Lyndsey Spano.
“Oh, it’s always great. The vibes are always high. Everyone always comes together to have a great time,” she said.
Fans said they were optimistic going into the game but did not want to get their hopes up too high.
“It’s a very nervous excitement. We’ve been here three out of the last four years and haven’t performed great the last couple of times,” David Stassi told FOX31 before the game. “I think the Rams could be a Sweet 16 team — so could be setting myself up for failure but we’re going down with the ship if it goes down.”

He shared a beer tower with his fellow Rams fans to calm his nerves. The team’s dominance on the court also helped Stassi and other fans watch the game without having to stress.
“Made a bowl game. Made the tournament. Not a lot of teams have done that this year so it’s been a fun time to be a CSU fan,” Stassi said. ...read more read less
