IDENTIFIED: Elkhorn Market owner killed in crash with almond truck in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man in his 80s and owner of a market in Fresno County was killed in a crash with an almond truck on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Fresno County Coroner's Office.
CHP says they responded to a crash in the area of Elkhorn and Marks
avenues in Fresno County at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Officers say a 76,000-pound trailer was traveling westbound on Elkhorn Avenue approaching Elkhorn Market. At the same time, a pickup driven by an 80-year-old was pulling onto the street from the Elkhorn Market.
The coroner's office identified the man as Harbans Singh Lehra, 80, of Caruthers. He was the owner of Elkhorn Market.
According to CHP, the driver of the big rig did not have any time to react and was unable to avoid the collision. Harbans Singh Lehra succumbed to his injuries, and his passenger, who investigators learned was his spouse, suffered minor injuries, as well as the driver of the big rig.
Investigators say the area of Elkhorn and Marks avenues would be temporarily closed while the almonds are loaded onto the truck. ...read more read less
