SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The first weekend of spring has arrived. From outdoor festivals to live music and sporting events, there's plenty of fun to be had across the county.
To help narrow down your search for plans, here are five things to do in San Diego this weekend.
San Diego Latino Film
Festival
Presented by the non-profit Media Arts Center San Diego, this annual festival has been going on for the last 32 years. It focuses on works by Latinos and/or creations about the Latino experience. There will be a variety of showings this weekend, as well as a masterclass and even a kids' program. The full schedule can be found here.
New store opens at Westfield UTC
San Diego Wave FC vs. Utah Royals
San Diego Wave FC is preparing to welcome fans back to Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday for its home opener match against the Utah Royals. The club also added 10 new active players to its roster ahead of the regular season, as well as a new head coach from Sweden. Tickets to the match start at around $22 per seat.
San Diego Opera's "Salome"
Head to the San Diego Civic Theatre on Saturday or Sunday to catch a showing of "Salome," adapted from Oscar Wilde’s play of the same name. It tells the biblical story of Princess Salome, who becomes infatuated with John the Baptist, a prisoner in her stepfather King Herod’s court. The running time for the performance is an hour and 50 minutes.
Comedian Matt Rife to perform in San Diego this spring
San Diego Humane Society`s Annual Walk for Animals
Held at Kit Carson Park in Escondido on Saturday, this event is meant to help raise money to provide animals with shelter and lifesaving medical care. The funds also help families adopt new pets, rescue animals from cruelty and neglect, and so much more. Those who want to participate in the walk can register online.
SeaWorld San Diego’s Seven Seas Food Festival
This weekend marks the return of this foodie festival. It’s sure to bring an array of international flavors to your taste buds as it features food and drinks from around the world. There will be cuisines of all kinds, including Asian, South American, Mediterranean, African, French, and more. There will also be entertainment like Polynesian fire knife dancers, local bands and dance groups, and even high-energy K-pop groups.
