ATU members are set to take a vote Saturday that could end the strike, according to the VTA. The VTA said it has presented the union with an enhanced wage proposal of 10.5% over the next three years -- contingent on VTA Board approval.
Union leadership, according to the VTA, has publicly stressed that the concern was not about money. The VTA maintains it has gone "above and beyond" to accommodate union demands.
Those demands, according to the VTA, include agreeing to proposed arbitration language and significantly enhancing dental coverage. The VTA also maintains its current proposal is "competitive and fair."
