BRUNSON, S.C. (WSAV) -- The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Narcotics and Investigation Unit discovered what appeared to be a live grenade near Woodburry Lane Friday. HCSO announced in a public warning on Facebook on March 21, asking citizens to "avoid the area immediately" and maintain a safe distance. A grenade is a small explosive device designed to be thrown by hand, capable of causing serious injury or damage upon detonation. The sheriff's office has also contacted mutual aid partners and bomb technicians to examine the perimeter. On their Facebook page, HCSO asked that no one approach or investigate the area.
