HAMILTON — Hamilton Township has been recognized as a Healthy Town Gold Level by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute through the Mayors Wellness Campaign for the third consecutive year.
The designation places Hamilton among a select group of New Jersey communities recognized for their com
mitment to health and wellness initiatives.
“Our continued investment in accessible outdoor recreational opportunities, reducing barriers to food insecurity, and expanding community health programming reflects Hamilton’s unwavering commitment to our residents’ well-being,” said Mayor Jeff Martin. “We are honored to receive the Healthy Town Gold Level designation once again and will continue working to ensure Hamilton remains a leader in community wellness.”
The township expanded its public health initiatives in 2024 through collaborations with the Health and Recreation Departments and local organizations. Programs included free health screenings, mental health awareness events, and substance use prevention initiatives.
Among the township’s notable programs were Walks with the Mayor, International Overdose Awareness Day, nutrition and food security programs, and wellness activities for youth and seniors.
The Mayors Wellness Campaign is a program of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. It provides structure and evidence-based resources for local wellness initiatives through public-private partnerships.
Hamilton Township renewed its commitment to the program in 2022 under Mayor Martin’s leadership.
