PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A power outage in the southside impacted the Virginia International Gateway in Portsmouth, according to an operations alert. Officials with VIG said power has been out since 6:30 a.m., and that the gates are down due to the outage. While the operations building is curren tly running on generators, workers are currently unable to serve trucks at the gateway. The Saunders neighborhood in Newport News also experienced a power outage Friday morning. In the early morning hours of Friday, nearly 1,000 Dominion Energy customers were without power. Officials said the outage was due to a tree on the line.
