GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has recommended safety assessments of 68 bridges nationwide, and Green Bay's Leo Frigo Bridge is one of them. The various assessment recommendations are due to NTSB's ongoing investigation into the tragic collapse of the Fra ncis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore nearly one year ago. The 68 bridges listed for a safety assessment in the NTSB's report are reportedly "over navigable waterways frequented by ocean-going vessels." ‘Hands off the Post Office’: Protestors gather in Green Bay to speak out against potential privatization of U.S. Postal Service The report goes on to note that the 68 bridges "were constructed before the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) guidance was issued in 1991, have not undergone a vulnerability assessment based on recent vessel traffic, and, therefore, have an unknown level of risk of collapse from a vessel collision."
