UC San Diego loses to Michigan, eliminated from March Madness

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The University of California San Diego men's basketball team lost to No. 5-seeded Michigan Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 68-65.
Guard Tyler McGhie led the No. 12-seeded Tritons with 25 points, followed by forward Nordin Kapic with 15 points.
The
Tritons clinched a March Madness berth after winning the Big West tournament against UC Irvine.
On Wednesday, the Tritons’ women’s basketball team did not have luck on its side as well, losing to Southern University 68-56.
UC San Diego is the first school in history to send both their women’s and men’s teams to the tournament in their first year of official eligibility.
The Wolverines will play Texas A&M in Round 2 on either Saturday or Sunday. ...read more read less
