WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Hundreds of thousands of people and their cars filled downtown Wichita on Thursday.
Parking has been relatively smooth. KSN talked to a parking management company, which is taking on the stress to make it easier for fans.
The Parking Company of America has decades of e
xperience. The company hired additional staff for the NCAA tournament because they knew how busy this week would be.
Andrew Haffner, operator of Parking Company of America, wouldn't want it any other way.
"Especially this type of event, it really brings out, the NCAA, always brings, you know, thousands of people to Wichita," said Haffner.
Haffner has handled parking in Sedgwick County for 17 years.
"Since 2008, and I really enjoyed doing this not just for me, but for the community."
He says the NCAA tournament parking is the busiest he's ever seen.
"I've had three rounds of eight people. That's what the totals are like. I had eight people here this morning, eight for the evening shift," said Haffner.
The parking team plans to be out at about 7 on Saturday morning for people who want to get an early start for the second round. ...read more read less
