HONOLULU (KHON2) — After 20 months of renovations, the Blaisedell Center Concert Hall is now open to the public with many anticipated performances. The City revealed a new and improved facility for the first time on Thursday, March 20. Hawaii Symphony Orchestra back at Blaisdell Center Con cert Hall after nearly three years A $10 million renovation at the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall boasted a safer and modernized facility. "The architects have been very good about selecting finishes that match the period of the building, which is mid-sixties without looking like it's been here since the mid-sixties," stated John Condrey, Dept. of Design & Construction (DDC) Architect. Enhancements include a full rigging replacement, a new fire suppression system, improved backstage facilities and more. We did this project to enhance the safety and security of the site and also to make the facility a little bit more attractive to the people who attend," said Allyn Lee, DDC Mechanical, Electrical Division Program Administrator.
