POLK COUNTY, N.C. — There are multiple wildfires burning in western North Carolina. The Black Cove Fire is in Polk County located on the Green River Game Land. That fire has spread over 400 acres and is 0% contained.Also in Polk county, the Deep Woods fire has burned 216 acres and is 0% contain ed. The Fish Hook fire has burned 6 structures. Due to the increased fire risk, the North Carolina Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and have canceled all burning permits statewide effective at 8 A.M.
